Consulted with the New York Times’ Kellen Browning for this piece in late 2023, about the early days of Kick, its murky ties to Stake.com, and the potential risks of gambling livestreaming, and the platform’s aggressive business strategy.

A short French-language interview I did with 98.5’s Valerie Lebeuf in summer 2024 about young people who watch gambling livestreams on Kick, among other places. This was a very quick rundown of the risks, and concerns that parents and consumers should have with this kind of content, as well as potential avenues for better pedagogy around gambling, and government regulation of livestreaming platforms (in the Canadian context).

I had the pleasure of appearing on a recent episode of Dr. Shlomo Sher and Andy Ashcraft’s The Ethics and Video Games Podcast to discuss my work on how companies simulate real-world cultures, how that practice intersects with business prerogatives and how companies might be more ethical going forward. I would also recommend folks take a look at the other wonderful guests interviewed for the show on a range of other game studies topics!

My presentation starts at 34:36, but I recommend anyone interested in learning more about either Magic: The Gathering distribution or Critical Role mediation, to check out the whole panel!

Gave a long form interview to La Presse’s Thomas Dussault about Kick’s operations relative to the Quebec legislative reality, potential concerns regarding gambling streams, and the kinds of content that young folks consume when they tune in.

Short feature interview with Antonios Liapis at 30:40 in this year’s FDG (Foundation of Digital Games) TV Live Show. If you want to hear a bit more about my research on Magic: The Gathering, check it out! Also FDG TV’s catalogue is a treasure trove of research and conference interviews. Can’t recommend enough

A small interview from back in the first year of my MA at the Breathing Games - Game Jam from 2016.

I did some some translation work and technical writing for this jam, which was focused on producing new apps gamifying medical care exercises for youths with pulmonary disorders like cystic fibrosis.
